Things are changing...
...I am moving tomorrow.

My new address is:
Sister Kourtni Ashcroft
4665 West 3277 South
West Valley City, UT 84120

Apparently the Elders apartment is infested with mice so they are moving into our apartment.  Our apartment really is too big for us anyways.  We are moving just around the corner into a huge beautiful home!

We have this amazing shower!
Big rooms!
And, a piano!

It is even bigger then our current place but the Sister who owns it is single so only Sisters can live there.  I was really bitter about moving but then I saw my new home!  I think I am going to be okay!  I will miss the ping pong table though!

Sister Brighton is so much fun!
She reminds me a lot of Kristy!
She has this huge house all to herself.
And, she goes with us to lessons.

I am still not recovering well from the bike accident so we called the doctor and he prescribed me muscle relaxers and an anti-inflammatory.  I think I got whiplash because my neck has been so out of whack the past few weeks.  I wanted to go to the quacker-practer, but they had me call the Mission Doctor first.  I am feeling better.  Sister Swain gave me a massage and a back-rub and she said that I had all kinds of knots in my neck and back.

My mission is so cool!  You know the district videos?  My mission is going to be filmed!  They have already filmed a few companionships.  Sister Joseph was one of them and she was not happy about it.  She is in the companionship that is testing the iPads.

There is a big missionary fireside on June 23 and it is supposed to be huge!  Sister Joseph will be in the videos. I kinda hope I am too.  It is weird to be teaching a lesson and have someone filming it but it is way cool.

Thanks for sending me the backpack.  It so much better than then my shoulder bag.  I have to be careful when I fling it onto my back!  Yesterday it hiked my skirt up so everything was showing.  Thankfully it was a day that I picked to wear a slip.  No one told me my skirt was hiked up!  I walked around for about ten minutes in the church talking to everyone!  Finally sweet Sister Leortscher came and pulled it down for me.  I have struggles!

I have to go...
...my ride is here to take me to the P-day building!

Things are great!
The church is true!

The Missionary Wall

Here is a picture for you guys!
I am sorry that I have been really bad at getting pictures to you!
I just never have time!

There is a missionary wall in my home and since I am leaving I have to add my picture and this is the one that I used.

I Was Attacked

My companion and I were walking home one night and all of a sudden I heard a noise.  I seriously thought that a dog was coming after me!  I turned around to see where the dog was at and what part of my body it was going to take off and then the Stake President's sprinklers shot me right in the face.

I will not lie!
It hurt!

I screamed and took off running.  Everyone came running out of the house to see what happened.  They thought it was so funny.  It was pretty funny though.  It was worth it because they gave me a jar of canned peaches.  They were the best peaches in the world!

PS: Red Lobster is the first place I want to eat when I get home.
I really want some crab.

Oh Poop!

We were at a family's home for dinner and one of the daughters has some disabilities and she loves sign language.  We were talking about different signs and my companion said, "Isn't this the sign for eat?"  She was signing 'thank you' so I said, "No, this is it!"  I realized what I was signing after all the giggles. Turns out the sign I was doing to sign for 'poop'.

Yes, at the dinner table.
Yes, it was awkward.

Oops!

Here is the knee you all have been waiting to see...
...it really hurts and I still cannot bend it.

Bike: 1
Sister Ashcroft: 0

I was finally able to trade Goliath with Elder McNeil's bike.  Elder McNeil had a girl's bike while I had a boy's bike; Goliath.  The new bike is older than the dinosaurs and it was a scary bike.

We get started on our way and the gears start changing all by itself.  Uuhh, I did not know that so I started pedaling faster and the chain stops and then the pedals stop whenever it changes gears. The first time it happened it was really funny, because my shoe went flying off.

The second time...
...not so funny.

We just crossed the street and was in a neighborhood and a car was behind us so we started pedaling to the other side of the road.  As I picked up speed the same thing happened; chain stops and pedals stop.  My feet flew off the pedals and my bag of bricks {Book of Mormons} flung to the side and made me lose my balance.  Then my tire went straight into a manhole that had broken pavement around it and it stopped my front tire in its place.

The car behind me stopped and told us that I flew over the handle bars because I have no recollection of what happened.  I have decided that I must be a pretty good missionary because I got hardly got any road rash.  Heavenly Father was watching out for me!  Or else my hurdler's instinct came in and I knew how to roll so I would not get road rash.

Maybe it was a little of both!

I felt pretty dumb because I had people see me from the road and they turned around to come to my rescue.  The first guy was ready to call the ambulance.  It was thoughtful of him but I said no.  Then another person tried to give us a ride.  I wanted to take him up on the offer but since he was a he it would be breaking mission rules.  We pushed our bikes {very slowly} to the church.

I seriously have never felt so much pain from my knee ever!
After all the hurdles I have hit in my life, nothing has hurt as bad at that this little bike accident.

My knee is still pretty swollen and I cannot bend it much. My hip pops every time a take a step and I think I pulled something in my other knee too. The muscle in the back feels like it is constantly being pulled and my entire body is super sore.

Other than that I am doing good!

I will not be riding a bike for awhile.  My poor companion has to walk to super slow for me.  We have not made it to a single appointment on time since the accident.

I love you all!

Missionary Chicks

Thursday, May 9, 2013

This week has not been super exciting, just super busy!

I will share my week with some highlights...

All the kids in the neighborhood think we are the coolest ever.  They walk with us all the time and call us Missionary Chicks!

We went to teach a family and when we got out of the car we heard one of the boys yell, "Mom!  The Mormons are coming!"

A man that we are trying to reactivate told me he would come to church if I would give him a piggy back ride.  Yeah, things got awkward!

Utah drivers are the worst drivers in the world!  I am pretty sure that they do not know what a stop sign is.  I was almost hit twice in the same day — within a five minute period — because people do not know how to stop.

I rode Goliath right into Sister Muldowney because I have bad breaks.  She was trying to avoid getting hit by a car.  A car that did not stop at a stop sign.

We had an interesting conversation with a Pastor.  He kept telling us, "Do not worry Sisters, God still loves you."  Good thing Sister Muldowney can keep her cool because I had to bite my tongue.  I gave him a nice smile and said, "Have a nice day!" and then sang I am a Child of God as we walked away.

I got the chance to talk to an anti-mormon online.  As missionaries, we can see what people are typing before they send it to us and we could see that she was copying and pasting everything from an anti-mormon website.  She told us to go read the Bible and learn a thing or two from it.  I told her that we have read the Bible and encouraged her to read the Book of Mormon.

The Lord is really trying to teach me patience!

We had a dinner appointment with a family. We arrived and the kids were home but did not know where their parents were.  Oops!  They forgot they were feeding us.  That was okay, but our house was clear on the otherside of our area.  It was about a twenty minute walk home.  We had a lesson at six and the lesson location was an even further walk.  Needless to say, it was a rough day.  My patience was wearing thin.  I said a silent prayer to help me with my lack of patience and asked Heavenly Father for help to relax.  Guess what?!  The Lord put someone in my path who talked forever and we made it home ten minutes before our appointment.  We all know I am not happy a happy person when I am hungry!  We warmed up corn dogs and was on our way!  It ended up being a really good night and the person was wonderful and hopefully we have some luck with her family.

It was a crazy, busy, hard week but the church is still true!

I love my mission and love you all!
